2. What Akimes is
Akimes is a free public guide to places, events and deals. It covers the Netherlands today; Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are coming.
This website is for looking things up. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to buy here, and you do not enter into any agreement with anyone through it. Businesses that want to appear on Akimes, or keep their own information up to date, do that through the Akimes dashboard, which they get access to separately. An Akimes app is coming later and will have its own terms. If you book a table, buy a ticket or turn up at a door, that is between you and the business — we are not part of it and we take no cut.
3. Content from venues and organizers
Most of what you read here comes from the business or organiser it is about, or was put together from what they published themselves. We correct what we are told about, but we cannot promise that any of it is right, complete or current. Opening hours change, events move, prices go up, kitchens close early. Check with the venue before you go.
A blue tick next to a name means the business itself keeps that page up to date. It is not a check by us of anything on the page, and it is not a rating.
We can change, hide or remove anything on the site — usually because it is wrong or out of date, sometimes because we are asked to. Those decisions are made by people, not by a machine. If we remove something a business put up, we tell them what and why.
If something here is wrong, or you believe it is unlawful or uses something of yours without permission, email info@akimes.com with the link to the page, what the problem is, and how to reach you. We deal with these in the order they arrive and we tell you what we did.
4. Paid spots
Businesses can pay to be promoted on Akimes. Wherever they have, we label it, so you can always tell what was paid for and what was not. Spots where we promote Akimes itself are not labelled that way, because there is no advertiser behind them. Everything else you see is arranged by us, not bought.
Lists are ordered the same way for everyone — newest first, or by start time when you sort an event list that way — and that ordering is not personalised. Anything a business has paid for is labelled. Nothing on the site is arranged around you personally.
5. Using the site
Use Akimes the way it is meant to be used: look things up, share a link, tell a friend. Link to us freely — links to any page are welcome.
Please do not copy the guide wholesale, whether by hand or with software, and please do not use what you find here to pester the businesses and people listed. Do not pass our content off as your own, and do not present the site as somebody else's.
6. What belongs to whom
The design, the code, the writing, the photography and the Akimes name and logo are ours. “Akimes” is a registered trade mark. Everything about a business that came from that business stays theirs, and other companies' names and logos belong to them — they appear here to say who is who, nothing more.
The guide as a whole took real work to build and is protected as a collection. Taking a meaningful part of it, or taking small parts over and over, is not allowed.
Collecting content from the site automatically — including to build a rival guide or to train a model — needs our permission in writing. Search engines are welcome, as always. Quoting a listing and linking to it is normal, and we like it.
7. Links to other sites
We link out to venues, organisers, social profiles and maps. Those are other people's sites: we do not run them, we do not watch them, and we are not responsible for what is on them or what happens once you are there. A link is not a recommendation.
8. Availability
Akimes is free to use — this website, the dashboard for businesses, and the app when it arrives. We work to keep everything running, but we cannot promise it is always available, and we may change or stop any part of it, or change what is listed.
9. Liability
Akimes is a free guide, and you use it as it is. We are not responsible for loss caused by something here being wrong, out of date or unavailable, and we are not responsible for what a business, an organiser or another site does. That is why the advice on this page is always the same: check with the venue before you travel.
Some responsibility cannot be signed away under Dutch law, and we do not try to. Nothing here limits it.
If you are a consumer, nothing on this page takes away rights you have where you live.
10. Changes to these terms
We update these terms when the site changes. The version on this page, with its date, is the one that counts, and if something meaningful changes we will say so here.
11. Governing law
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, that does not take away the protection of your own country's rules or your right to go to court there. We are not committed to, and do not take part in, any alternative dispute resolution body. Where the four language versions differ, the Dutch one is the one that counts.
12. Contact
info@akimes.com.
That is also the address to use if you are an authority contacting us about the service. We can correspond in Dutch, English, Papiamento and Spanish.
