Privacy statement

There are no accounts on this website, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing left behind. There are no trackers: no outside analytics service, no advertising network, no social pixels. No code from anyone else runs in your browser — not even our fonts come from somewhere else. We do not build a picture of who you are, nothing here is tailored to you, and we do not sell or pass on anything about your visit.

Akimes.com is run by Akimes Digital Technologies V.O.F., registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under KvK 42142635. The site is hosted in Europe. Anything about this page goes to info@akimes.com.

Three cookies, if you choose a language, a country, or light or dark. Your address for a moment when a page or a promoted spot is counted, or when you open a filtered list, so one machine cannot flood the site — it is turned into an irreversible fingerprint the instant it arrives, kept only in memory, and gone within a couple of minutes. Our hosting provider also keeps standard technical logs, which include your address, for a limited period. A count of how often a promoted spot was shown or clicked, which holds nothing about you. A count of how often each page on this site is opened, and of how often an individual place or event is looked at — the page, never the web address and never anything you typed into a search or a filter, and again nothing about you. And whatever you write to us by email, for as long as we need it to answer you and keep our records.

Why we may do any of this: we have a genuine interest in running and protecting a free public guide, and that is what we rely on. If you disagree, you can object — write to info@akimes.com and tell us why.

There are three. One remembers the language you chose, one the country you chose, one whether you asked for the light look, the dark one, or whatever your device is set to. None of them is written when you arrive — nothing lands on your device until you actually pick something, and none of them says anything about you beyond those three choices. All three last a year unless you clear them. Nothing else is stored on your machine.

Because they only remember what you chose, Dutch law does not require us to ask permission for them, which is why you will not find a cookie pop-up here. Delete them whenever you like: the site keeps working, it just asks you to pick again.

When a promoted spot is shown or clicked, your browser tells our own server which spot it was, which slot on which page, and which country's listings you were looking at. Nothing in it identifies you. No cookie is set, nothing is stored on your device — two views from you look exactly like views from two strangers. It reaches us and stops there. Businesses are told how often their spot ran, never who saw it.

Where a business has paid for a spot, we label it. That is a promise about honesty, not a detail: if something on Akimes was paid for, it will say so.

Nothing you see is arranged around you. We do not know enough about you to arrange anything around you, and we would rather keep it that way.

Akimes is a guide, so most of the personal information here is not about visitors at all. It is a restaurant's phone number, an organiser's email, a venue's Instagram, and on event pages the names, photos and handles of the artists playing. Some of it the business gave us and keeps up to date itself through the Akimes dashboard. Some of it we put together from what was already public — the venue's own website or social media, or the event's own announcement.

We use it to run a free public guide of what is open and what is on — that is our genuine interest, and it is what we rely on for it. Everyone can see it, because that is what a guide is. We do not sell it, rent it or pass it to anyone who trades in data, and we keep it for as long as the listing is up.

If you want it changed or taken down, email info@akimes.com with the link to the page and what should change. If it is your name, your photo or your social handle, tell us and we will take it down once we can see the request is really from you. If it is a business's public contact details, we may weigh your request against people's interest in a guide that is actually right, and either way we will tell you what we decided and why.

We do not sell anything about you and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising. There is no advertising network, no data trader, no social media integration and no embedded map. A small number of providers help us run the site — hosting and email — and they act only on our instructions. We would hand something over if the law required it, and not otherwise.

One thing worth knowing that is not ours: links to other people's sites are still links. Open a venue's Instagram, a WhatsApp link or a map, and you are on their site under their rules. Nothing of theirs loads while you are on Akimes — but the moment you click, you are their visitor.

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, or object to us holding it at all. Write to info@akimes.com and we will answer within a month, and tell you if we need longer.

Here is the honest part most privacy pages leave out: as a visitor, we cannot find you. There is no account, nothing that identifies you, and no cookie carrying anything but your language, your country and whether you asked for light or dark — so if you ask what we hold about your visit, the truthful answer is that we cannot look it up, and we are not going to start collecting more just so we could. That does not apply to the section above: if your business or your name is listed here, we know exactly which entry is yours and everything works normally.

If you think we have got this wrong, you can take it to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. We would rather you told us first, but that is your call.

This page changes when what we do changes, not on a schedule. The date at the top is the version you are reading, and if something meaningful changes we will say what it was.
